Cauliflower 'Cheddar'

  • Cauliflower. Popular vegetable crowned with dense clusters of edible flower buds - usually white but often colored green (erroneously called "Broccoflower"), purple or reddish. Far more demanding than Broccoli, it is more sensitive to cold, heat and moisture stress. Colored cultivars are generally easier to grow for the home gardener. Though some cultivars are heat tolerant, it is most commonly grown as a spring or fall crop (Winter in the deep south and along the coasts). As with all Brassica oleracea, control cabbage worms with Bacillus thuringiensis dust or spray - stronger insecticides are not necessary.
