  • Sugarleaf. To 18". The phenomenal increase in popularity of Stevia as an all-natural, non-caloric sweetener has created a surge in demand for the plant by retailers and home gardeners alike. Toxicology studies on the active ingredients have proved inconclusive, and a former FDA ban on Stevia products has been lifted. Though dried leaves can be used as a sweetener, commercial Stevia sweeteners have been refined and are either liquids or powders devoid of any green color. Hardy only in tropical areas, but suitable as a bedding, container or house plant elsewhere.
